I lost my mother, yesterday.

She grew up in a poor but proud farming family. There was no electricity nor indoor plumbing. She helped her dad in the fields, toiling just as hard as any man. She adored her mom and assisted her too. She said, "As soon as I can, I'm going to move where I never have sand in my shoes."

Later, she became a devoted Christian mother to myself and two younger brothers. She was "my rock" and we had a special bond. Of all her admirable traits, a noted one was her friendly hospitality. If you were a guest in her home you were treated as well as could be.

Over the past 10-12 years she experienced various illnesses but she refused to let them slow her down. But, during the past few months she began to take a significant downturn . . . and yesterday morning she "gained her wings".

Jimmie Winona Wolfe Aged 100 years, 6 months, and 12 days.
